These dry skin rash remedies are kid-friendly!

Diet is Important

You can treat an itchy, rashy skin with many natural remedies, but you won’t cure them until you address the underlying problem that causes or contributes to dry skin rash. Although many skin rashes are caused by something as simple as an insect bite or allergic reaction to certain compounds in body care products or foods, others may be a bit more complicated.

Healthy diet and lifestyle changes can certainly affect and improve persistent rashes that are caused by chronic inflammation of the gut and imbalances in gut flora. So get your diet right and use the dry skin rash remedies below to speed up healing and reduce the discomforts while healing.

10 Natural Remedies To Fight Dry Skin Rash

1.    Lavender Essential Oil (EO)

Lavender EO works soothing and healing. It has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, calming, and moisturizing properties. You can apply it undiluted on small areas or dilute in coconut, olive, almond oil or your favorite neutral, organic, and moisturizing lotion (dilute 2-4 drops lavender EO in 1 tablespoon oil or lotion). Apply a few times a day until healed. Always try on a small patch of skin first to check for allergic reactions.

2.    Probiotics

If the problem is diet or gut related, probiotics can make a huge difference. So up your intake of probiotic-rich foods such as sauerkraut, kombucha, cultured coconut yogurt, kefir, ginger ale, fermented veggies, etc.

4.    Vitamin E

Vitamin E nourishes and soothes dry skin rash. You can apply vitamin E oil directly onto the skin as needed or mix with coconut oil and essential oils.

5.    Baking Soda

Baking soda helps to dry out the rash and will help to soothe the itching. The only thing you need to do is sprinkle a small amount on your hands and apply to the rash.  You can also make a paste to stop the itch if your skin is not broken. Just add 1 part water to 3 parts baking soda and apply the paste to the itchy areas. If the rash is all over your body, add 1 cup baking soda to your bathtub with a few drops of lavender essential oil and soak for 30 minutes.

10.  Organic or Homemade Skin Care Products

Do not use commercial chemical based soaps, shampoos, or lotions. Opt for organic, neutral body care products or try and make your own. If you go out in the sun, use an organic sunscreen to protect your skin as heat can worsen the rash. Take a cool bath or shower when you come home to find some relief, although some rashes or skin conditions respond better to warm water. Always use a gentle moisturizer after bathing to hydrate your body.
