You may have thought about staying healthy to prevent aging and wrinkles, keep the body functions normal, avoid diseases and illnesses, or live longer and stay youthful as much as possible. Maybe you have tried a variety of food supplements or products that promise to delay aging and wrinkling, ensure to whiten the skin and clear spots, lift eye bags or brighten dark circles under eyes.

These might have helped in making you feel good, but there are a number of ways to live healthy without using expensive merchandises. Here are some secrets for healthy living which will spare you from having an empty wallet.

My Top 5 Secrets for Healthy Living

1. Manage your stress and you’ll fix almost everything

Stress can be a major contributor to a lot of health conditions and it affects your whole being. It can even aggravate diseases and lead to depression and suicide.

Being stressed can cause your skin to age sooner rather than later, fluctuating hormones or hormonal imbalance, and mood swings as well as many other disorders. To prevent this, you must learn how to control and fight stress. One way to fight stress is to do activities that help you relax and feel calm. Yoga, meditation, and deep breathing are my go-to stress relievers.

2. Sleep is ground zero

One of the most important things to stay healthy is a good night’s rest. Even if you are eating well and doing yoga, none of that matters if you are sleep-deprived. Once you deprive yourself of sleep, a number of health complications will develop such as pre-diabetic states, problems with metabolism, obesity, and productivity decrease.

3. Never skip breakfast

4. When your body says stop, listen to it

You must listen to what your body is implying. When you feel thirsty, quench yourself. Once you feel tired, take a rest. Don’t force yourself to move when you feel that your body doesn’t want to. Your body is very delicate; it needs utmost care. Do not ignore the signs your body is sending you.

5. Prepare healthy foods and opt for smarter sweet treats

Processed foods contain preservatives that can harm your body. As much as possible, avoid these. Choose healthier options such as whole grains, brown rice, and beans. Take note of sweets as well. Being a sweet-tooth is not a bad thing, but too much of sweets are! Try to look for better substitutes such as tropical fruits or sweet, healthy snacks made from whole foods. I’m thinking of avocado chocolate mousse, chia puddings, or green smoothies.
