When you are trying to go on a plant-based diet it is important to stock your fridge with a few plant-based essential so that you’re always prepared to make a delicious, quick, and clean meal or snack instead of ordering take-out or graze on granola or protein bars, or other vegan processed crap.

Discover My Top 10 Plant-Based Essentials

1.    Your Favorite Fruits

Always make sure to keep a few of your favorite, seasonal fruits in the fridge. They are the easiest fast food on our planet. I love berries, pineapple, apples, banana, mango, and citrus fruits. They can also be used in juices, smoothies, salads, vegan-style dinners or desserts.

2.    Raw Vegetables

Fresh raw vegetables are the other essential rock stars to stock your fridge with. They can be used in green smoothies or juices, salads, dips, veggie curries, soups, and so much more! Also, make sure to have some cut raw vegetables in there for a quick and healthy snack that pairs great with guacamole, hummus, salsa, or any other dip you like. Veggies often found in our fridge: carrots, celery, cucumber, zucchini, spinach, bok choy, kale, arugula, and peppers.

3.    Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice

If you are anything like us than you use lemons quite often. We start our day with a glass of lukewarm lemon water and have some more of it during the day. With a bit of black pepper, it makes the easiest dressing there is and we add it to plenty of our dishes. To save some time you can juice a whole bunch of lemons so you don’t have to cut and squeeze them all the time.

4.    Dips or Dressings

Make sure to have one of your favorite dips or dressings on hand. You are more likely to snack on raw veggie sticks if you have some hummus or guacamole to pair with it. Also, lunch or dinner salads taste so much better with a dash of your favorite homemade dressing.

6.    Raw Nuts

Raw nuts are an ideal quick and filling snack. They can be used in salads, vegan-style desserts or can be blended in your smoothie for extra protein and energy. We always store them in the fridge to avoid them from going rancid.

7.    Nut Milks

Almond, coconut, and hazelnut are our family’s favorites. They are more nutritious, lower in calories, and taste better than regular milk. They can be poured over your cereals or granola, work great as a liquid base for your smoothies or there are tons of healthy desserts you can make with these delicious nut milks. And they are so easy to make. Have you ever tried to make your own nut milk? It super easy. Hazelnut is my absolute favorite.

9.    Coconut Water

Coconut water is extremely hydrating and packed with vitamins and minerals. I love to drink the water of young coconuts after my yoga sessions to rehydrate my body. They are also a great liquid base for your smoothie recipes. Opt for organic brands with the least preservatives. I’m fortunate these days to live in Asia and have them growing in my backyard.

10.   Homemade Cultured Coconut Yogurt

Another thing I always keep in my fridge is homemade cultured coconut yogurt. Love it in my smoothies or as a power breakfast with fresh fruits, cinnamon, and oats or granola.
