A while ago I wrote an article about the wonderful uses and benefits of apple cider vinegar and today I got an exciting new remedy to add to the list. ACV works wonders on skin lesions such as skin tags, moles, and warts.
Skin tags, or acrochordons, are a very common problem. They are small, skin-colored, harmless growths that may hang from a stalk. They often occur after midlife, while being pregnant, when suffering from diabetes or when overweight. Skin tags can appear on any part of the body but are most commonly found in body folds such as armpits, groin, neck, under the eyelids, or under the breasts.
Although they don’t need a treatment and are harmless, they can cause irritation and are not very esthetic, especially when they are growing on your face or other more visible body parts. Instead of running to your dermatologist to cut off, tie off, burn or freeze those skin tags, try this painless, safe, and cheap remedy first.
How To Use ACV To Remove Skin Tags Or Moles
The acetic acid in the vinegar destroys the blemish while keeping the surrounding tissue undamaged. Although it may take some time to remove your skin tag, it is painless and won’t leave a scar.
Don’t use ACV when the skin tag, mole or wart is around the eyes or on the eyelid though.
- Wash the area around the skin tag with lukewarm water and a mild soap.
- Dry skin thoroughly.
- Gently poke the skin tag with a sterile needle or toothpick. Let it not bleed. There isn’t nerve tissue in a mole or skin tag. So it won’t hurt.
- Soak a small piece of cotton in ACV and squeeze out excess ACV.
- Place on the skin tag or mole, hold with a bandage and leave for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Repeat daily (up to 3 times) or leave overnight.
- The mold will reduce in size and become darker. Don’t scratch and repeat until skin tag or mole falls off.
- Apply pure aloe vera gel after the skin tag or mole has come of the speed up healing and hydrate your skin.
After application of the ACV, the skin can be slightly red and it can sting a bit, but this is only temporary.

How To Use ACV To Remove Warts
Same method as described above can be used to remove warts. However, don’t use a needle or toothpick as this will spread the wart-causing virus to other body tissues and more warts can appear. Especially when your skin is damaged or broken.
Leave the cotton ball on overnight and if not too uncomfortable during the day as well. Make sure to change the cotton ball daily. After a week the wart will start to peel off until it is completely removed.

My mother has a skin tag and I’ve been helping her treat it with Apple Cider Vinegar. But, after a few treatments it started to bleed. Is this normal for Apple Cider Vinegar to cause bleeding? She has seen a dermatologist and there is no skin cancer. Should I continue the treatment. My Mom is anxious to get rid of this skin tag because it is very itching and annoying to her.
Hi Frances, normally they just fall off after a few days. Is she scratching the skin tag?
