Wrinkles something we all have to face as we are growing older. They are the result of decreasing collagen levels, which causes your skin to lose elasticity. Luckily, there are some ways to slow down the aging process and grow old in style.
Premature aging of the skin and wrinkles are often a result of poor nutrition, stress, sudden loss of weight, and a lack of exercise. There are thousands of expensive anti-aging and anti-wrinkle serums and lotions on the market. But those can do more harm than good, as they contain a lot of skin-damaging chemicals, and often don’t give you the promised result.
The 9 Best Ways To Reduce Wrinkles And Slow Down Aging Of Your Skin
1. Healthy Lifestyle, The BEST Way To Prevent Wrinkles And Skin aging
Eating healthy foods and exercise regularly is not only important for a healthy and young looking skin, your whole body will take the benefit of living a healthy lifestyle.
“You are what you eat”
Through the food we eat, our body gets the essential nutrients to build new cells and maintain vital processes. So the foods you put in your mouth are actually the building blocks of your entire body. Through a healthy diet you are giving your body the best building blocks there are to maintain your skin’s elasticity and slow down the aging process and the formation of wrinkles.

2. Protect Your Skin From The Sun
Too much sun can also cause wrinkles. Make sure to use sunscreen when you’re planning a day out in the sun. Not only will you reduce the risk of wrinkles, you’ll also avoid skin cancer.

3. Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Add more omega-3’s to your daily diet to nourish your skin cells. It keeps your skin supple and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Salmon (or other cold water fishes), flax seeds, wild rice, beans, chia seeds or walnuts are an excellent source of Omega-3.
4. Get Your Beauty Sleep
While you are sleeping, your body takes the time to renew and detoxify. It releases a hormone called, human growth hormone, which is responsible for a healthy growth of all tissue, including your skin. If you don’t get enough sleep your body will release another hormone, cortisol, which slows down growth and renewal of cells, resulting in a drier and wrinkled skin.

5. Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water and use a moisturizer. A hydrated skin looks better, is toned, and wrinkles are less visible. Also, don’t over-wash your face, especially when you use harsh soaps, as they wash away your natural oil protection and dry your skin.
6. Avoid Stress
Stress can thin and weaken your skin and is closely associated with the early appearance of wrinkles and premature aging. Although it is not always easy to get your stress levels under control, there are some easy ways to de-stress on a daily basis.
Simple breathing exercises, yoga, or settling down with a good book or listening to music while sipping a cup of herbal tea are all good examples to give your body some time to relax and reload. Did you know that excessive, exaggerated facial expressions like frowns and scowls can worsen or deepen wrinkles as well?

7. Drink More Green Or White Tea
Green tea and white tea contain catechins and epicatechins, those are both antioxidants that stop the enzymatic reactions that break down collagen and elastin, which are important for a young, wrinkle-free skin. Green and white tea undergo the least processing of all teas. Teas like black tea are oxidized through a fermentation process, which destroys those antioxidants.

8. Get Your Antioxidants And Protect Your Body Against Free Radicals
Free radicals damage the cell’s membrane. They weaken your cells or even destroy them completely. Collagen production slows down and free radicals may harm other vital processes responsible for a healthy and smooth looking skin.
Antioxidants not only prevent damage from free radicals but can also help reverse damage that’s already done. We talked about catechins in green tea, but there are so much more antioxidants to help you slow down aging and the appearance of wrinkles.
Retinol, for instance, is a form of vitamin A and has been proven to stimulate the collagen production and reduce wrinkles. Retinol can be found in liver, eggs, and cereals. Or our body is able to make retinol out of beta-carotene (the orange color) found in foods like carrots, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes.
Another powerful antioxidant, as it comes to skin aging or wrinkles, is vitamin E. Cell membranes are able to absorb vitamin E. Once there, it enables the cell to repair the damage done by free radicals, those are formed when fatty acids react with oxygen. You can buy vitamin E oil and add it to your favorite lotion or moisturizing oil. Or add more vitamin E rich foods to your diet. Those include most leafy greens, tropical fruits like papaya and kiwi, nuts, sunflower seeds, avocados, fish, vegetable oils, red bell peppers, broccoli, and pumpkin.
Blueberries, strawberries, pomegranate, acai, blackberries, and raspberries are loaded with antioxidants and other phytonutrients known for their positive effect on skin health.
9. Easy, Inexpensive Homemade Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
The most important thing for a young looking, wrinkle-free skin is definitely a healthy lifestyle. Not only will they prevent wrinkles, they may even reverse them by toning and hydrating your skin. But here are some quick fixes to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, as changing your diet and lifestyle takes some time.
#1 Granny’s Egg White Anti-wrinkle Mask
My granny is full of ancient wisdom! And one of her tips, use egg whites to get rid of wrinkles. They have been used for centuries to minimize pore size, firm, and rejuvenate skin.
Wash your face first and pat dry. Separate the yolk from the white. Apply the egg white on your face in a thin even layer and allow it to dry. Leave it on for 20 minutes before washing it off with cool water. Use 2 to 3 times a week. You could add a teaspoon raw honey or coconut oil for an extra moisturizing effect. Or tea tree essential oil for acne.
#2 Milk And Honey Cleanser
Milk cleanses the pores and stimulates collagen production. Honey, on the other hand, will moisturize your skin to increase the elasticity. Mix one tablespoon raw honey with half a tablespoon raw whole milk. Massage into your skin and let sit for 10 to 15 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.
#3 Lemon-Coconut Sugar Scrub
Lemons add extra vitamin C, which is essential in the production of collagen. Sugar removes dead cells and contains glycolic acid, a compound that helps repair damaged skin. Combine 1 teaspoons raw palm sugar, with 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or your favorite moisturizing oil). Gently rub the mixture onto your face with your fingertips. Avoid the areas just under your eyes because the skin is very delicate there. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse with cool water.
#4 Aloe Vera Moisturizing And Healing Lotion
Pure Aloe vera gel contains malic acid, which improves elasticity and helps you to reduce wrinkles and keeps your skin moisturized. You could use pure gel as a mask, leave it on for 10-15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water. Or try one of my homemade moisturizing lotions. Click here for an aloe vera lotion making tutorial.
Olive, jojoba or sweet almond oil; almond paste; mashed banana, avocado or pineapple masks are all other ingredients you could try to reduce wrinkles and hydrate your skin! Try these tips and remedies for yourself and grow older in style. Aging is something we all have to face, but it is up to you how fast the signs will appear or progress.
