How To Oil Pull
Traditionally, cold pressed organic sesame oil is used for this method, but actually any vegetable oil will do the trick. However, I’m using organic virgin coconut oil as it is one of the healthiest oils on Earth and is well known for its antimicrobial and thyroid boosting properties. Also, I prefer the taste of coconut oil over sesame or other vegetable oils.
Moreover, oil pulling is best done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and before you brush your teeth or have your morning lemon water. Swish a spoonful organic, cold-pressed vegetable oil around in your mouth. If you use coconut oil and live in a colder climate, preheat the oil until liquefied before use or just let it melt in your mouth. It up to you.
Further, it is recommended to swish for 15-20 minutes, but I’ve worked my way up to 20 minutes gradually. The first time, try to keep it in your mouth as long as possible. I managed to hold it in for about 5 minutes. Additionally, the first few times your gag reflex may kick in, but this will stop after a few times. However, try to stick with it and build it up slowly.
While I’m pulling oil, I like to go sit somewhere relaxing and read a book or magazine. But if I’m in a hurry and don’t have a spare 20 minutes, I make breakfast and prepare lunch or take my morning shower while swishing.
DO NOT SWALLOW THE OIL, it is loaded with toxins! Spit it out after 15 to 20 minutes. Best to spit it out in the trash as it can clog pipes when used daily. Further, rinse your mouth thoroughly and brush your teeth. At our home, we use a fluoride-free baking soda paste to brush our teeth. Click here to learn how to make your own all-natural toothpaste.
If you’re in good health, one oil pulling session in the morning will do the trick. However, you can only build it up to 3 times a day.
