A few years ago I discovered the many health benefits of drinking lukewarm or room temperature lemon water first thing in the morning.Β These days I canβt start my day without settling down for a few minutes, sipping my lemon water. Not only is it aiding my body to finalize its detoxification processes, but the fresh taste wakes me up as well.
Lemons are jam-packed with healthy nutrients, including vitamin C, B-complex, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber. Making lemon water part of your healthy daily routine is one of the best and easiest things you could do for your body.

How To Make Your Own Healing Morning Drink
The only thing you have to do is squeeze half a lemon (if youβre in good health and weigh less than 150 pounds, otherwise use the entire lemon) in a glass lukewarm water. Always opt for fresh lemons, donβt use bottled lemon juice as they contain sulfites and preservatives. Take your drink, go sit somewhere relaxing and simply enjoy the beginning of a new day. Wait for 15 to 30 minutes before having breakfast to take the full benefits.
Why lukewarm? Of course, you could drink more glasses of lemon water during the day, hot or cold, but your first glass in the morning should be lukewarm to kick-start your digestion and slowly wake up your body for the day ahead. Cold water takes more energy to process.

You’re welcome! Keep up the good work!
Thank you Amy for the advise, its actually straight forward and explanatory. But someone once told me too much of lemon is harmful to the body. Like how many can we take per day?
You’re welcome! To answer your question: there are studies that eating too much lemons can be harmful for your teeth enamel due to its citric acid contents. Lemons also have a lot of vitamin C, too much can cause diarrhea and kidney stones… But actually to have those harmful effects you have to drink liters a day. 1 cup of lemon juice contains 60,5 mg vitamin C, daily recommendation of Vitamin C for adults is 2000 mg. So like with many things in life moderation is key and people always find some reason to say certain foods are not healthy. But if you eat a few lemons a day, you’re absolutely safe… if your stomach can bear it. Some people experience stomach issues when eating too much citrus fruits. But starting your day with lemon water is definitely one of the best things for overall health :-). Have a great and healthy weekend π
hope it woudnt make me loose weight, cause am slim. lool. will start right away, thanks.
You’re welcome! Lemons can aid people to boost their metabolism or fat-burning mechanisms, but it is definitely no weight loss miracle on its own. So you won’t lose pounds by adding lemon water to your daily diet. Have a great day π
That’s my secret!! Can’t do without it each day!

You’re welcome Mary! Have a great and healthy weekend!
This is a wonderful piece. I was taking it before, but a friend of mine told me its not good for the womb, especially for ladies that have not given birth yet. I use to take mine with honey and it teate great; hope there is no problem using honey??
Ty Tonia! Some people experience issues with their tummy when drinking or eating citrus fruits. If you are one of those people who suffer from diarrhea or cramps when eating citrus fruits like lemons, oranges or grapefruits then it is better to avoid them in your diet. But otherwise they are super healthy and a great way to kickstart your day with a healthy dose of vitamin C. Always use fresh lemons as lemon concentrate or bottled lemon juice contains all sorts of additives and preservatives. Btw, I have been drinking lemon juice for years and never experienced any side effects or issues with my womb (FYI I haven’t given birth yet). Honey has some great health benefits as well, but it contains a lot of natural sugar, so moderation is key to reap its benefits. Enjoy your weekend! Amy

Drinking lemon water is absolutely safe for pregnant women. It is a good sources of vitamin C and fiber.
