Living in the tropics doesn’t mean you can’t get the flu or cold. In fact, it was just two days ago when my hubby started to sneeze. And yesterday he felt really bad and weak with a sore throat, cough, and chills. Furthermore, one of our Khmer friends made him a healing ginger elixir. And after a few hours, he felt so much better. As a matter of fact, we got to see greatly how they cure diseases here in Cambodia. Indeed, I love their natural approach and knowledge about healing herbs and spices.
Here are the 3 ingredients
Lemons strengthen the immune system, aid digestion, and promote detoxification.
Ginger improves digestion, reduces pain, and swelling. In fact, it has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Also, it works great to soothe a sore throat or upset stomach. Additionally, it reduces fever and can help to clear nasal passage.
Raw Honey has antibacterial, antiviral, and immune boosting properties.
3-ingredient Flu And Cold Elixir
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1-2 inch piece of ginger, sliced
- Juice of 1 lime or ½ lemon
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
Add ginger slices, lemon juice, and raw honey to a cup of boiling water. Steep for at least 5-10 minutes. Drink as much as needed during the day.
I’m drinking this very same recipe to strengthen my immune system and prevent getting the flu as well!
