I love my daily Vinyasa or Flow Yoga practice… and with some alterations, those poses work great to strengthen and tone your belly or core while burning the fat that’s on top of those muscles to reveal the abs that lay underneath. Losing your excess belly fat is not only a matter of how you look, but you’ll do your whole body a big favor. Belly fat is often linked to serious diseases like heart diseases, cancer, and diabetes.

Repeat following exercises on a daily basis to shed some pounds and tighten your belly. There’s no need for expensive equipment and they can be done in the comfort and privacy of your home.

1.      8-10 Rolling Crunches

Rolling crunches are inspired by Yoga and Pilates. They are 30% more efficient than regular sit-ups as they use more muscles fibers, challenges your abs, and doesn’t cause strain on the lower back.

Start in the same position as you would start a regular sit-up, lay flat on the floor with your hands behind your head. Roll your shoulders up and forward, while gently lifting and bending your legs towards your chest.

If you can’t get your head up far, don’t worry, just do the roll until you build up some strength.

2.       8-10 Kickbacks (each side)

Great exercise to work your core and burn some calories.

Start on all fours. Make sure your hips are over knees and elbows over wrists. Tuck your toes under so your knees are 2 inches off the ground if this is too much stay on your knees and work your way up. Draw your belly in toward your spine. Keep your back straight.

Then bring your right knee to nose and kick it back out while firming your bud. Toes are pointing to the floor. Repeat 8 times and switch side.

3.      5 Boat Poses

Sit on the floor and bent your knees at a 90-degree angle, balance on your sitting bones. Put your hands behind your knees for support. Keep your chest lifted and begin to straighten your legs and stretch your arms forward. Hold for 5 to 15 breaths and release. Repeat 5 times. If this is too hard for you in the beginning, stretch your legs till where you feel comfortable and keep your hands behind your knees for support.

4.      10 Planks While Lifting Leg (each side)

Great exercise to strengthen your arms, firm your butt, and tone your abs. Kneel on the floor on all fours with hands directly under your shoulders. Stretch your legs one by one back to come into plank (similar position to the up of a push-up). Make sure your spine is straight and your butt isn’t sticking out into the air.

Press your hands firmly into the ground and push back through your heels with strong, active legs. Lift right foot up and down, repeat 10-15 times and switch side. If you’re building up strength you can do a few rounds of this exercise on both sides or come down on your elbows.

5.      5 Sets Of 5 Squats

Great abs and leg muscle strengthener. Stand with your feet hip-width; toes are pointing straight ahead. Cross your hands over your chest and push down into a squat. Keep your spine in one straight line, knees over toes, and keep your bum tucked. Come back to standing position and repeat 5 times.

Work your way up to 5 sets of 5 squats.

6.      6-8 Locust or Bow Poses

Locust pose: lie down on your stomach with your arms next to your body and toes pointed to the back. Lift your arms and legs about 6 inches off the ground (come as far up as you can) and hold for 5 breaths. Relax body back to the ground and repeat 6-8 times. To include arm strength make a fist behind your back instead of just lifting your arms from the ground.

Bow pose: to make things more interesting, bend your knees while coming up and grab your ankles. Hold for 5 breaths and relax on the floor.
