I’m sure that there is no kid who’d refuse to eat something tasty outside. Children play games, they are very active – all the fresh air increases their appetite and what can be better than having a meal in a park or in the forest? But how to make the snacks healthy?
First of all, together with your child you should choose a nice lunch box that you’ll take for a walk. The kid will surely enjoy opening and closing it himself. Therefore, he’ll gladly take the food from it, share his meals with friends and parents.
So, if you have already bought the box all we have to do is to fill it.
Vegetables
Cucumbers, sweet pepper, and carrots will do perfectly well for a walk. The kid can’t even soil himself with any of these, which makes his mum especially happy. Of course, you shouldn’t put all of the vegetables in a box, but it’s good if your kid has some options as for what to eat.

Fruit
Here, the main thing is that the fruits should be seasonal ones and those, that your baby likes. It’s better to make juice from citrus fruit since children aren’t very good at eating them without getting themselves and everything around sticky and soiled.
However, kids will eagerly eat grapes, sliced apples, pears, and bananas themselves and there won’t be any problem with this. Such snacks are very healthy and tasty as well.
Dried fruits
This kind of fruits, especially dates, dried plums, dried pitted and halved apricots, as well as figs, are healthy and it’s a very good alternative to sweets.
However, you should avoid brightly colored dry fruits, because this means that some food dyes were used to process them. Another thing you have to remember is that you should wash any dried fruit before eating it. Why?
Because you never know who touched it and how it was sorted, transported and stored. It’s not that difficult to put them under running water to be sure that they are safe for your kid to eat.
Of course, you may go further in this direction and buy a food dehydrator of your own and make dry fruits right in your kitchen! This way you’ll be 100% sure that these fruits are definitely clean and healthy for your child because you are the one who made them!
Nuts
Here we must warn you – nuts are a very good snack, but it is very rich in calories and for a child, it’s hard to digest them. So, don’t give them to a kid, if you are planning to serve dinner or another meal in a short time.
You should also keep in mind that it’s desirable to soak nuts before eating. Firstly, they become more digestible after soaking. Secondly, softened nuts won’t damage kids dental enamel.
Of course, your child may have very strong tooth enamel, but believe me, if you eat solid food very often it will do harm to your teeth in a long run.

Fruit salad
There must be a fork and a spoon that come together with your lunch box. Here is when you’ll need them. However, the secret is not to overdo when trying mix all the possible vitamins in one container.
It’s better to take just two fruits (banana and kiwi) or one kind of fruit and a veg (carrots and apples). It’s not worth experimenting here. Simple food + simple combination of ingredients = easy digestible food
Raw bars
Here we speak only about homemade raw or sweet bars. Almost all bars that are sold in shops or supermarkets contain lots of synthetic supplements and added sugar.
Raw bars are healthy, sweet and natural. Besides, they are easy and fast to make. Just put the following into your blender: any kind of nuts, figs (as a sweetener) and anything you like: dried apricots, raisins, chip coconut, sunflower seeds, linseeds, poppy, sesame, sprout buckwheat seeds etc. Finally, add some carob, cacao, maple syrup or honey. Make bars from the mixture you’ve got and put them into a cold place. This is it!
If you don’t have time for all of the above mentioned, we recommend you to buy sesame honey-nut bars for your kid. Sesame has the highest content of calcium in it – 1474 mg in 100 gram.
You can turn eating a snack into a nice picnic with your baby. This will make your walk unforgettable and it can become a favorite tradition for both of you.
This isn’t only for warm summer days. Because, your snacks can be tasty and pleasant even in autumn, on a bench in a park. You’ll just need a thermos for the cold days. You can take some herb teas with you in it.
It is of crucial importance to ingrain proper eating habits and tastes since early childhood. Show your kid all the diversity of healthy food tastes – don’t feed them with store-bought chocolate bars made of nobody knows what.
