14 Easy Ways To Eat Healthier Every Day

“You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces – just good food from fresh ingredients.”

– Julia Child –

Right she was. Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to spend an entire evening in the kitchen and produce a massive masterpiece or buy the most eccentric products… It’s all about using fresh, clean, and whole ingredients. For more info about cleaning eating, CLICK HERE!

Here are 14 of my easy ways to eat healthier every day

1.      Cook With Coconut Oil

I know, this is not the cheapest oil out there but definitely worth the few extra dollars. Coconut oil contains a type of saturated fat that’s actually super healthy for our body. It can help in weight control, has antibacterial properties, and is heart-friendly.

2.      Eat Quinoa, Buckwheat, Millet Or Amaranth Instead Of Rice

Quinoa, buckwheat, millet, or amaranth are some great example of (pseudo)grains which packed with complete proteins and more antioxidants, fibers, vitamins, and minerals than rice. They are a great addition to your diet and can be eaten with nearly everything.

3.      Start Your Day with Lukewarm Lemon Water

This will slowly wake up your digestive system and help your body finalize its detoxification process.

4.      Use Avocado Instead Of Cheese or Mayonnaise

Avocados are loaded with healthy fats and fibers. When you mash them up with lemon juice, sea salt, and black pepper they make a great alternative to mayo.

5.  Make Cauliflower Mash Instead Of Potato Mash

If you are a mash lover, just like me, swap most (or all) potatoes for cauliflower. I prefer the taste of mashed cauliflower, and it doesn’t add up as many calories. Add some spring onions, garlic, nutmeg, and black pepper to add more flavor.

6.      Swap At Least One Cup Coffee a Day For Tea

If you are a coffee lover, try at least to swap one cup a day for tea or CLICK HERE to try one of my healthy coffee alternatives instead.

7.      Use Fresh Tomatoes

Tomatoes are packed with vitamin A and C. So if you are making a marinara sauce, use fresh tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes. During canning chemicals –such as PBAs – end up in the final product and the tomatoes lose many of their healthy nutrients as well.

8.      Add More Dark Leafy Greens To Your Diet

Add more dark leafy greens – such as kale and spinach – to your daily diet. They are packed with health-promoting nutrients and are easy to incorporate into your diet. Ever tried to make kale chips as a healthy snack? Yummy 🙂

Don’t forget to download my FREE green smoothie eBook. It’s a great way to sneak more greens into your diet. Even kids will love them!

9.      Take Lunch To Work

If you take your own lunch to work, it is likely to be a lot healthier than the things you can buy. Many salads can be made the evening before, just don’t add a dressing. Take it along in a smaller container. Soups, overnight oats, or smoothie are another easy take a long lunch or breakfast.

10.  Meatless Monday

Meatless Mondays not only make Mother Earth happy. It also helps to get creative with veggies, fruits, nuts, and seeds. This will help you to get more adventures with them during the week. If you’re a vegetarian try vegan Mondays.

11.  Use Smaller Plates

Trick your brain… when you serve your food on smaller plates you’ll eat 22% less and have a satisfied feeling. While the same portion served on a big plate will leave you hungry and craving for more.

12.      Drink Fruit Infused Waters Instead Of Soda

Instead of drinking sodas or other sugary drinks opt for fruit infused water instead. They are low in calories, assist in weight loss, and help to flush out toxins. CLICK HERE to get my favorite infused water recipes.

13.  Make Healthy Foods Visible

If you keep healthy food visible and unhealthy food out of sight, you are more likely to go for the healthy options.

14.  Eat As Many Colors As You Can

Eat as much bright colored fruits and veggies as you can. They are packed with the most nutrients and excellent for your health.
