Your skin has a lot to endure during the day. A homemade body lotion can do wonders for a sensitive and dry skin. Give your body the soothing treatment it deserves. Making your own cruelty and chemical-free lotion is so much fun and inexpensive.

Here is one of the recipes I like to use as a daily body lotion to keep my skin moisturized and soft.

Personalize your lotion with the essential oils you like. This homemade body lotion recipe works for everyone in the family and is safe for kids as well. Avoid using essential oils when pregnant.

  • Pour into a bottle or jar and give it 12 hours time to set before first use.

Some Additional Information

Ho Leaf is an eco-friendly essential oil with similar therapeutic properties to rosewood. It is derived from the evergreen leaves of a tree that grows in abundance in China and plays an important role in the local ecosystems. White Camphor is actually derived from the very same tree, but it is found in the wood. Ho Leaf oil is a very gentle oil that relieves stress and fatigue. It has balancing and soothing properties on mind and body. It can be used in a lotion to fight acne, dry or sensitive skin. Ho leaf blend well with most floral and citrus oils such as Bergamot

Bergamot has a sweet and rich fragrance and is the favorite of many aromatherapists. It creates a relaxed and happy feeling. It gives your skin a healthy glow, fights acne, and wrinkles. Bergamot can perfectly be blended with almost all essential oils. Geranium, jasmine, mandarin, sandalwood, orange, and rosemary are all good options to try.

Note: Bergamot is phototoxic, meaning that it can cause pigmentation of the skin when out in the sun. So do not use bergamot or other citrus fragrances if you plan to go out in the sun the whole day. Although some stores sell the bergaptene-free bergamot oil, it is still better to stay out of the sun or choose another essential oil to add to your lotion.
